Commercial Food Photography | Colourful Recipe Photography FOr Brands

Commercial food photography often needs to do more than simply make a recipe look appetising. For established food brands, the imagery also needs to feel distinctive, recognisable and suited to everything from advertising and packaging to editorial features. This series was photographed for Nestlé Shredded Wheat, creating colourful branded recipe photography that later appeared in BBC Good Food magazine.

The shoot explored Shredded Wheat beyond the traditional breakfast bowl, using the cereal as an ingredient across a collection of sweet and savoury recipes. Bright greens and yellows create a consistent visual identity throughout the series, combining bold colour, graphic compositions and natural food textures. The result sits somewhere between commercial food photography and editorial recipe photography: playful and eye-catching while keeping the food itself at the centre of each image.
For food and drink brands, recipe photography can be an effective way to show a familiar product in a new context. Alongside recognisable product and packaging photography, recipe-led imagery can demonstrate versatility and create a wider visual world around a brand. From breakfast and cereal photography to baking and savoury recipes, this type of branded food photography can work across editorial, digital, social and advertising campaigns.
I’m Richard Jarrett, a London-based commercial food and product photographer specialising in colourful, concept-led imagery for brands and agencies.
