A concept-led commercial food photography project exploring what happens when iconic British confectionery brands replace ingredients in classic British dishes.

When Comfort Food Meets the Corner Shop
British food and British confectionery are both packed with nostalgia. For this personal project, I combined the two by replacing familiar ingredients from classic British dishes with some of the country's most recognisable chocolate bars. Fish and chips become fish and Milkybar, a full English breakfast gains KitKat fingers, and a Sunday roast takes an unexpected turn with a Yorkie chocolate bar sitting inside a Yorkshire pudding. The result is a series of conceptual food photography images that explore humour, familiarity and visual surprise through food.

Creating Memorable Advertising Photography
One of the most effective ways to create memorable advertising photography is to take something familiar and present it in an unexpected way. These images use visual substitution to encourage a second look. At first glance, the scenes feel recognisable, but small details quickly reveal that something isn't quite right. This approach creates curiosity and engagement while demonstrating how simple concepts can be transformed into distinctive visual campaigns.

Concept-Led Commercial Food Photography
Many of my personal projects begin as creative experiments, but they often explore techniques that translate directly into commercial commissions. Concept-led food photography can help brands communicate ideas quickly, create social-first content and develop campaigns that stand out in crowded markets. By combining graphic compositions, bold colour palettes and playful storytelling, these images demonstrate how photography can move beyond product documentation and become a creative communication tool.
